This super healthy recipe for fish cakes is from Chiva-Som, which is a wellness spa in Thailand and has some of the best food I have ever eaten. I love these fish cakes – you can use any fish you like and feel free to add spice to the recipe.
This is a really easy, yummy fish my mom makes that is inspired by Asian flavor.
Here is a really delicious recipe for a wonderful, healthy fish dish which is smothered lightly with a Japanese accented sauce. The fish can be pan-fried or steamed (to make it even healthier).
Mas huni is a Maldivian breakfast food made with tuna. It is like a salad with simple seasonings of onions and shredded coconut added to tuna and can be eaten with roshi.
The cuisine of the Maldives has influences from its neighboring countries of India and Sri Lanka and thus curry is a big part of their everyday food.
Even though a lot of the spices used in the curry are similar, the Maldivian chicken curry still distinguishes itself. Curries can be made using chicken, fish or vegetables.
Here is a recipe for a Maldivian fish curry.
This is a wonderful fusion Indian recipe that Chef Ansari shared with me during my Maldivian cooking class at Laamu.
This recipe really simplifies a really complex mélange of flavors.
Gulha are bite sized, ball shaped hedhika which are usually stuffed with tuna fish, onions and grated coconut.
If you would like to make “Mas Roshi” which is a flattened version of gulha, then use the same recipe except you need to shape them into flat discs about 3” in diameter and pan fry it.
These Maldivian fish cutlets were one of my favorite kinds of hedhika (short eats) on the island. A simple combination of tuna and potatoes fried to a perfect crunch makes for a great anytime snack.
Biskeemiyaa is surprisingly one of the few Maldivian hedhika ( short eats) that does not have tuna in it ( which the Maldivians love). The main ingredients comprise of chopped cabbage and boiled egg.
For me…..with or without the tuna – this makes for a really yummy snack.
This is a great recipe for a quick pan fried fish which goes with just about anything. You can eat this fish with salads, pasta, curries and so on. The besan (chick pea flour) adds great texture and nutritional elements to this dish.
